Issuance of a new Lebanese passport:                                              (Application Form)

 

The Lebanese Authorities inform all Lebanese Citizens who still hold the red non-machine readable Lebanese passport, that they are to get the new blue machine readable Lebanese Passport before the 24th of November 2015, date on which the use of any non-machine readable passport will be prohibited, according to the last recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).  

 

It’s now possible to apply for the new passports at the Consulate General of Lebanon in Montreal. However, please be informed that this procedure will take 8 to 10 weeks, as the applications will be sent to Lebanon and treated by the General Security. The new passports will then be sent to the Consulate General via diplomatic pouches. 

 

To apply for a new Lebanese passport, the applicants must come personally to the Consulate General with the following documents:

 

           - Old Lebanese passport

           - Two recent colored passport pictures on white background, (less than 6 months)

                      - Measurements: (4.3 cm X 3.5 cm)

                      - Head and shoulders 70% to 80% of the picture

                      - Face clearly visible, from the upper of the hair till the lowest part of the chin

                      - Face should be in the center of the picture, and forming a right angle with the shoulders

                      - Eyes open, with no colored lenses, and without redness/ gleam or reflections

                      - Picture should be printed on high quality paper, and without gleam reflections

                      - When eye-glasses are necessary, make sure they don’t hide the eyes, and present NO reflections, with frames that don’t hide the face

                      - Head remains free of any cover for the exception of:

                                 - Women wearing the veil: providing that the veil is not to cover the face and the forehead

                                 - Religious: providing that they will present a legal document confirming their status 

           - New Lebanese I.D. or civil status act (Ikhraj Kayd) less than 10 years old.

                      (PS: the family status of a married woman should be well specified on her Lebanese ID, along

                      with the registry number of the spouse; otherwise it won’t be accepted by the Authorities).

           - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, work or study permit.

 

           Fees: (payable cash)

                      -   40.00 $ for one year

                      - 200.00 $ for five years

 

           Processing time:  8 to 10 weeks

Renewal of a Lebanese passport:                                                        (Application Form)

 

Upon the request of the Lebanese General Security and following the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), it is no longer possible to renew the Lebanese Passport for five years . The renewal for one year only will be possible on the reserved page, only if the passport holder will apply for a new Lebanese passport at the same time of the renewal and if the validity of the passport to be renewed is almost expired.  

To renew a Lebanese passport, the applicants must come personally to the Consulate General with the following documents:

           - Lebanese passport

           - 2 recent colored pictures on white background (4.3 cm X 3.5 cm)

                      (the face and shoulders should be centered, eyes looking directly at the camera, head straight, no red eyes or

                      excessive flash light, etc.)

           - New Lebanese I.D. or civil status act  (Ikhraj Kayd) issued after 1993

           - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, work or study permit.

 

           Fees: (payable cash)

                      -   40.00 $ : renewal for one year

                      - 200.00 $ : renewal for five years

 

           Processing time:  2 working days

Lebanese passport: adult with children                                                            

 

It is no longer possible to renew a Lebanese passport that includes children.  In this case, the parent has to apply for a new Lebanese passport for him/herself and for each child.

Issuance of a Lebanese passport for a child:                                          

 

BOTH parents must be present to apply for a new passport for their child if the child is less than 18 years old. The following documents are needed:

 

           - Child’s old passport

           - Two recent colored passport pictures on white background, (less than 6 months)

                      - Measurements: (4.3 cm X 3.5 cm)

                      - Head and shoulders 70% to 80% of the picture

                      - Face clearly visible, from the upper of the hair till the lowest part of the chin

                      - Face should be in the center of the picture, and forming a right angle with the shoulders

                      - Eyes open, with no colored lenses, and without redness/ gleam or reflections

                      - Picture should be printed on high quality paper, and without gleam reflections

                      - When eye-glasses are necessary, make sure they don’t hide the eyes, and present NO reflections, with frames that don’t hide the face

                      - Head remains free of any cover.

           - New Lebanese ID of the child or his civil status act  (Ikhraj Kayd)

           - Familial civil status act (Ikhraj Kayd aakili) if available

           - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, birth certificate for

                      the children born in Canada

           - The application form is to be completed at the Consulate General

 

The new passport will be issued by the concerned Authorities of the Lebanese General Security and sent to the Consulate General via Diplomatic pouch.

This procedure will take 8 to 10 weeks.

Issuance of a "laissez-passer" for a newborn:

 

In case of emergency, and for some exceptional and urgent cases, the Consulate General can issue a “Laissez-passer” to a newborn whose father is Lebanese and if a Canadian passport could not be issued because of time constraints. However as a pre-requisite, the birth registration of the newborn has to be completed before at the Consulate General. This document will allow the newborn to travel only to Lebanon.

  

           Fees: (Payable cash)

                      - Birth registration, if not already done (free of charge)

                      - 40.00 $ Travel document (Laisser-passer)

Loss of a Lebanese passport:                                                                       (Application Form)

 

To formally report a lost or stolen passport, the applicant must present the following documents while applying at the same time for a new passport (see above: issuing a Lebanese passport): 

                      - Detailed Police report

                      - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, work or study permit

                      - Copy of the lost or stolen passport

                      - All the documents and pictures needed to apply for a new Lebanese passport.
