Marriage Registration                                                                                                                                  (Application Form)

 

Required documents:

 

           - Original marriage certificate, issued by the Register-Office

           - Passports of both spouses

           - Recent Lebanese I.D. or civil status act (Ikhraj kayd) or birth certificate for both spouses

           - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, work or study permit

          

The marriage registration is free of charge.

 

           Processing time:  2 working days.

Divorce Registration                                                                                                                          (Application Form)

 

 

Required documents:

           - Original marriage certificate, issued by the Register-Office or Familial civil status act (Ikhraj Kayd Aakily)

           - Recent Lebanese I.D. or civil status act (Ikhraj kayd) for both spouses

           - Power of attorney to someone in Lebanon, preferably a lawyer, with his/her address and phone number, empowering

                      this person to give the divorce its executive form.

           - Original divorce judgment and divorce certificate, translated to Arabic by a sworn-in translator and legalized (with

                      the translation) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa (125 Sussex Drive, Dept. Of Legalization, Tel : 1800-267-8376).

           - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, work or study permit, of

                      the person who’s registering the divorce.

 

           Fees: (payable cash)

                      - The registration of the divorce is free of charge

                      - 25 $ to legalize the divorce’s judgment if there is no amount of money

                         mentioned in the document (otherwise, 2 of the amount is charged)

                      - 25 $ for the special power of attorney

 

           Processing time:  2 working days.

Birth Registration                                                                                                                                       (Application Form)

 

 

To register a birth, the father of the child must come personally to the Consulate with the following documents:

 

           - Original birth certificate, issued by the Register-Office

           - Lebanese Passports of both spouses

           - Recent Lebanese I.D. or civil status act (Ikhraj kayd) for both spouses

           - Familial civil status act (Ikhraj kayd aakili)

           - Proof of residence in Canada:  Citizenship card, Immigration visa / permanent resident card, work or study permit

 

             The birth registration is free of charge.

 

           Processing time:  2 working days.

Death Registration                                                                                                                                  (Application Form)

 

 

To register a death, a close member of the family has to com in person to the consulate with the following documents:

 

           - Original death certificate, issued by the Register-Office

           - Lebanese I.D. of the deceased or his civil status act (Ikhraj Kayd)

           - Lebanese familial civil status act (Ikhraj kayd Aakili)

           - Lebanese passport of the deceased (if available)

 

The death registration is free of charge.

 

           Processing time:  2 working days.

Repatriation of Body                           

 

 

1. The death must be registered at the Consulate General. (Refer to Death registration).

2. A local Funeral home should help you provide the following documents:

           - Original death certificate, issued by the Canadian government
           - Certificate for transportation of body outside the province
           - Letter of non-contagious diseases issued by an authorized health institution
           - Letter of embalming
           - Letter of sealed casket 
           - Original Lebanese Passport of the deceased
           - Lebanese ID of the deceased (Ikhraj Kayd)

The repatriation’s formality is free of charge.

Applying for a Lebanese Citizenship for the wife of a Lebanese citizen                                (Application Form)

 

 

One year after the registration of a marriage between a non-Lebanese woman and a Lebanese man, upon the Lebanese concerned Authorities, the wife has the right to apply for the Lebanese citizenship, after the written consent of her husband. 

 

The wife will have to come personally, accompanied by her spouse, to the Consulate General with the following documents:

 

           - 2 recent pictures of the wife

           - Marriage certificate (From Lebanon)

           - Familial civil status acts (Ikhraj kayd Aakili)

           - Written authorization of the spouse, allowing his wife to get the Lebanese Citizenship

           - Valid passport of the wife, where the name of the husband is mentioned

           - Birth certificate of the wife with the corresponding Arabic translation

 

If the family name of the wife is, or sounds like, a Lebanese family name, without her being registered in the Lebanese official records, a declaration, written by the wife, has to be joined to the application, confirming that neither she, nor her father, possess the Lebanese citizenship, and that she would not apply for this citizenship in any other way.
